My boss AA and I were cruisin' De Soto to return to the office and a vast array of color hit our eyes. Our tempo on the cruise slowed, we were in absolute awe of a visual masterpiece, the New Academy of Canoga Park.
I rushed to the nearest computer to google the name of the architect and (yeeah~!) discovered the designer is of the same ethnic descent, Mr. Hak Sik Son with an impressive Curriculum Vitae. My first thought was... this man needs to write a book -- of course I didn't tell him that but I emailed him regarding my thoughts on his structure.
Mr. Son dialed me up at the office, I returned his call and we had an opportunity to chat about the field of Architecture. My initial thoughts of him were: intelligent, humble and definitely Korean. He offered me some educational advice and I sincerely felt touched. I felt as if I were sittin', sippin' my coffee and listenin' to my father speak.
